XTRF Summit - Smart Project best practices

Dear XTRF Users,

During XTRF Summit I will be conducting workshop about best practices in smart projects.

I would like to not only base on my experience but also receive input from you, what would you like to see during our meeting? Are there any particular topics which I should talk about? Please feel free to write here any ideas from PM perspective - that workshop will be dedicated for you. :-)

Thank you!

best,

Martyna

Creating Accounts that belong to a Client

Aly 5 years ago in Home Portal / Smart Projects updated 5 years ago 2

Hello,

One of the things our PMs have to do is work helping clients on jobs that they are working on for their own accounts. To organize this, we want to find a way to create a new Client and connect them to our own existing one as an Account.

So for example, Client X does projects for Client Y and they outsource one of Client Y's projects to us. Is there a way to attribute the project to Client Y, while only notifying and invoicing Client X on the progress of the project?

Thank you!

Change Workflow in Classic

Hello all, I was thinking I could change the workflow once a quote became a project, even if I had jobs in the Quote phase. I know I have done it in the past, but now I'm not able to do so, without making all previous jobs in the Quote phase reverted back to Open status. Is this a recent change?

Thank you in advance, Mindy

Assign to a language-independant receivable the corresponding job payable?

Hi!

In the workflow definition I have 1 languagecombination related receivable, witch generates automatically the corresponding job payable.

And I have several language-independant receivables, and I can not assign the corresponding job payable. Is there a solution?

Thanks

Reset Smart View to default

Reinis Straume (LMI:T) 5 years ago in Home Portal updated 5 years ago 3
Is there a way to reset a view to its default "saved state", including sorting?

Our Invoices view is by default sorted by Internal ID, but the column is hidden. One of my PMs found that, if they sort the view by Number (Invoice Number - the number generated for the Invoice), the items are sorted in way that is not expected.

AAA2019/999 is the highest number it recognizes and AAA2019/1000 and so forth are somewhere down in the list, etc.

A quick fix I could give my PMs would be a way to reset the view to its "saved state", including the default sorting. Right now, XTRF remembers the changed state and I can't seem to shake it.

Thank you!

XLIFF as source file

Jaime Zuniga 5 years ago in Home Portal / Classic Projects with CAT integration updated 5 years ago 0

We are having trouble getting an xliff file returned in the same format in a memoQ integrated project. Instead, it is returned as a mqxliff file. I asked XTRF Support about this and after a few weeks of testing the end result is that xliff files will always be returned as mqxliff files. I find this really hard to believe!

Does anyone have experience using xliff files in an integrated project with memoQ and receives the translated files back as xliff? If so, can you please share if you had to change any of the automatic action settings?

Thanks!

Sum of calculation units per match rate for all CAT tool projects (month, year etc.)

Peter Kolar 5 years ago in Home Portal updated by Bartosz Gumuła (XTRF Solution Architect) 5 years ago 2

Hi,

Any idead on how I would be able to get a sum of calculation units per match rate for all CAT tool projects (by month, year etc.). So not just the total WWC for monthly projects, but to actually see how many units were done in CAT tool per match rate (101%, 100%, 85-99% etc.).

Kind regards,

Peter

How to access CAT resource outside XTRF

I have an automatic workflow: Analyze - Prepare job - translate - Finalize/Update Memory

The SDL TM has been loaded in XTRF as a CAT resource

However we have certain types of projects ("XTRF-external projects") which use the same TM but are prepared the traditional way. We cannot maintain 2 parallel TMs or update TMs with segments from XTRF-external projects.

Ideally the TM would stay as a file on our server and be used by automatic projects and by external projects. I didn't find a way to do that. Has someone an idea?

Best way to map CAT ressources to clients?

We have translation memories in the SDL server (part of Groupshare) and we have also file based translation memories.

What is the most efficient way to allocate these workflow resources to clients in XTRF?

We want to avoid opening manually the dialog 'add workflow resource' for each client and each language combination as this would mean hours and hours (days) of work (imagine 10 languages x 1000 clients = 10,000 times opening a dialog).

  1. can we connect the SDL memory server and "communicate" the way memories are organised on the SDL-server to XTRF?
  2. can we batch-copy all memories (the file based ones) in a directory and on our XTRF server?
