How to create a report to share with clients for volume discounts?

David 6 years ago in Home Portal updated by Mateusz Trzeciak (XTRF Deployment & Training Specialist) 5 years ago 6

For some of our clients we apply volume discounts starting from a certain number of words.

I have created a volume report for internal use (I must say I'm pretty new to custom reports, ubt it seems to do the trick), but would now like to share it with a few clients so they can actually see the number of words translated so far this year.

So I went to the Exeuction Permission tab and wanted to grant clients access through the portal. However, the following message appears:

This checkbox is available when the report filter parameters include the currently logged-in client I

I can't seem to find any such checkbox in my report. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My report looks as follows:

Thank you very much in advance.

Refresh input files for multiple tasks?

If I have to add reference files after tasks have been sent out to translators, I'm finding myself having to click on "Refresh input files" for each individual task. This can get very tedious when the project consists of some 25 languages. To make matters worse the workflow page reloads after each click, and I have to scroll back to find where I was before. Surely there must be a smarter way to handle this?
Like a button on project level to refresh input files for all tasks?

Mandatory evaluation of suppliers

francois massion 6 years ago in Home Portal / Classic Projects updated by Viktor Mizsei 6 years ago 4

We would like to make the evaluation of translators mandatory (with a free text comment), because sometimes project managers forget to do it. As it is apparently not possible yet we have setup a task in the workflow. The problem is that apparently a folder with the name f this task is setup automatically, which is disturbing. Has so. a suggestion on how to solve this?

Match payable with receivable

Hi,

I'm confused how this option should work. We are using classic projects and in almost all cases the Trados CAT analysis uploaded to the receivables is also valid for the payables.

If I go to the workflow configuration, it is possible to set the payables option for a job to "match with receivable". However when I then create a new quote with this workflow, import the Trados analysis under receivable, it is not automatically copied to the payables section for that job.

Is this not what this option is intended for?

Bet regards,

Lennart

Signing generated PDFs

Has anybody of you implemented or considered adding electronic signature to the PDF files generated by XTRF before they are downloaded/emailed to the recipient?

Smart Projects and the need for flexibility

francois massion 6 years ago in Home Portal / Smart Projects updated by Sancho Leath 6 years ago 7

I would like to know the opinion of others re. a discussion we are having with the XTRF developpers. There is a great idea behind Smart projects: Standardization of processes, control of the production steps, automation, data and reports.

The price seems to be a loss of flexibility and no direct access to the files which is a major issue for our company, because we regularly encounter the following issues:

  • we just wand to look at the processed files
  • we use the processed files for various operations on the content (e.g. analyses, extraction of terms, correcting minor errors)
  • people using the files (outside standard tasks such as translation or QA) can be internal, external, registered in XTRF or not. They can work in parallel processes (e.g. extracting information while the translator translates)
  • The tools used can be everything on the market + macros and scripts
  • The operations on the files can be standard or very individual (one-off issues).

For all these reasons we feel we would lose our flexibility if we are forced by Smart projects to upload and download everything and to squeeze all actions into a task or a procedure. We want to standardize what makes sense, but at the same time access the files on our file server and be able to do some action without up- and downloading the files every time or calling-up an XTRF script.

Are we the only ones with this requirement? Can the others process all their jobs via standard tasks? Our understanding is that sooner or later the Classic projects will be phased out and only the Smart projects will remain.

Get report of total revenue from new client contacts this year

Cori Alcorn 6 years ago in Home Portal updated by Bogusław Reich (XTRF Product Owner) 4 years ago 1

Is there a way to filter in reports for new client contacts this year? You can do this for Clients by filtering for first project date being within the given year, or maybe created date, but contacts seem to only have last project date, not first project date.  Any suggestions? We don't just consider clients new, but also new contacts.

Answer

Hi Cori. The filters in question have been introduced in XTRF v8.6. You should be able to get the data you need now in your reports.

What kind of reports are you using?

Corrina Galetza 6 years ago in Home Portal updated by mark 6 years ago 1

Hello everyone,

I was wondering what kind of reports are you using the most into XTRF and which ones benefit you the most as well. Have you also generated your own reports in order to gather specific data that you needed but wasn't provided already?

How do you plan future projects?

Since it's impossible for the client to upload files to a project that are already planned (even though it's not started), how do you plan future projects? Let's say you know a client are going to send you a text for translation on a specific date. The best thing to do is of course to create the project, send out the request and plan everything in advance. But then the client cannot use the client portal to upload the files, since the project is already created. Then we're back to the emails again.
