De-Archiving Smart Projects

mark 3 years ago updated 3 years ago 2

We just came across a few items where we needed to update archived projects (to add files, to add feedback...). Awhile ago there was some mention of adding a de-archive option for smart projects. (https://xtrf.userecho.com/communities/8/topics/1380-adding-new-files-to-an-archived-project)

Any thoughts here? This would be a useful addition. I don't even think we'd need to have the files de-archived, but allowing us to update some project data and add updated files ourselves would be very useful.

Thanks!

Has anyone set up single sign on with Google Services?

We'd love to implement it but are currently 1) slogging through how feasible it is and 2) how stable it is.

Any experience out there?

Thanks!

Project manager workload reporting

mark 4 years ago updated by Mateusz Trzeciak (XTRF Deployment & Training Specialist) 3 years ago 1

We currently report workloads of our project managers as a function of how much revenue they are carrying and the gross number of projects. However, this is far from perfect. When we have large projects we batch the projects to have a single project with a single receivable, and then many projects where the actual work happens, with no receivable. We do this to simplify the invoicing as well as to manage smart projects with multiple source languages. On these projects, we need to have a lead PM on the primary invoicing xtrf project, and then we have multiple PMs on the other projects. As you may imagine, this leads to reporting where one PM has tons of revenue, and the others have none. It's not awful, but it's a challenge. Also, we have been trying to add more project coordinators, but XTRF doesn't seem to allow for an easy way to report on project coordinators.

Sorry for the long intro. But my question is how to others report on Project Manager work loads? What successes have you had with using XTRF and/or what work around do you implement to get a handle on how busy they are?

Thanks for the input!

Hello! Is there any way to have the chat disabled without having to click on the box each time for every project? Thanks!

Backup PM

We are trying to add a specific user as a Backup PM in a client's profile, under Identification Data. However, this user is not included as an option in the list. He is included in every other list under Sales Data, i.e. we can choose him as a Project Manager responsible. Any ideas?

Slow page reload times since upgrade

Ted 4 years ago updated 4 years ago 2

We've noticed that there's a really long lag when working with invoices.  If we click an item and then "Mark as Fully Paid" there is such a long delay before the view updates that I often have to hit refresh in my browser.  Does anyone know if this is being addressed by XTRF?  This only started happening after the latest update.

MemoQ and Smart Projects

mark 4 years ago updated by Sancho Leath 4 years ago 5

We currently use Smart Projects and Memsource. Because of the lack of integration between the two systems, we're considering switching to MemoQ.

Could anyone share their experiences using the MemoQ - Smart Projects integration? What works, what doesn't, what are the limitations? Any suggestions on this?

Thanks all!

OnCloud Hosting vs. Self Hosting | Updated thoughts?

mark 4 years ago updated by Alexandros 4 years ago 6

I would love everyone's thoughts on self vs. cloud hosting. Essentially an update to this thread: https://xtrf.userecho.com/communities/8/topics/1337-which-server-solution-do-you-recommend

I'm considering moving from the XTRF OnCloud service to a self-hosting model. My two biggest reasons for that is 1) some of my clients require all files reside in the US, so a Germany-based host doesn't work and their Canadian option is kinda-sort-of passable, but not ideal. and 2) The OnCloud is explicitly not HIPAA compliant, and while I'm not HIPAA certified (and am not going to be) it raises enough red flags for a few of my clients that it makes me want to control my hosting environment more closely. Having said that, I would rather not add another complex process or cost to the mix.

So... How are everyone's experiences with self-hosting? How challenging is doing updates? What are your reasons for self-hosting vs oncloud? What limitations have you experienced with self-hosting? Has anyone transitioned from onCloud to Self, or Self to OnCloud and have experiences to share?

I would love to hear thoughts and feedback.

Thanks!
