Invoicing by Task

Ted 3 years ago in Home Portal / Smart Projects with CAT integration updated by Nate 11 months ago 4

I was wondering if any companies out there do invoicing by task.  We thought this could be a good idea for larger projects where we'd like to send an invoice for what has been completed so far, but we noticed that tasks only change their status to "closed" once the entire project is closed.  Are there any workarounds for this?  Would it be possible for tasks to be closed once they're "ready"?

Hi Ted, you can invoice open tasks without any problem just while selecting tasks for invoice change status from closed to open.

Hi Martyna,

Thanks for your response!   I'd like to clarify my question a little bit...

It looks like this status field highlighted here shows the status of the whole project.  So if the whole project is closed, all of the tasks show as closed.  If the project is still open, all the tasks are open.  But what if one task of a project is closed, but the rest of the tasks are still open.  Is there a way to single out only the closed tasks for a project that is still open?

Thanks!

Ted

Hi Ted,

You can choose which filter you use. There is a status filter both for tasks (the one you should use, circled below) as well as for projects.

I have the same question as Ted. Even if I filter by "Task -> Status" on the create new invoice page, the status of tasks does not seem to change until ALL languages are completed and the entire project automatically goes to "closed" status. At that point, ALL of the tasks immediately change to "closed" at the same time.

I cannot find any way to see or report on task status outside the "add new invoice" pop up window so it is difficult to see task status as a usable field. "Tasks" are not separate elements anywhere on smart projects that I can see, and since they appear to be directly tied to overall project status, I'm not sure how to trigger client billing based on each language pair's completion.
