Files not being shared automatically between jobs

Clarice M. 6 years ago in Home Portal / Smart Projects updated by Marcela 6 years ago 12

Hi,

So I'm having this problem where I have to manually share files from one job to the next one, even though on the right panel I have written down the XX will receive jobs from XX for example and XX will send files to XX. Am I missing something? It's very annoying to keep doing so manually. I'm assuming there is some setting that I missed, however it is still very misleading that the system is telling you that it will be sharing files automatically and it doesn't..

Dear Marcela,

The problem is that categories in this process are not consistent. Which means that if Translator uploaded CAT package (return) there was no way of sharing it with the editor automatically.

Here is a video that should help you out with adding this particular file category.

Can you share more context please? A screenshot from the process and job areas would be very helpful.

Do you use predefined process template or has it been modified?

Hi Lukasz, will share once this happens again. Yes, I use a predefined process template but also sometimes it is modified.

Hello, the same thing happens to me. Let's say I have a Translation & Edition job. Mr. Translator uploads his files in the system and presses the "Ready" button so everybody gets notified that he has finished (the project manager and the next job, ie, the Editor). However, Mr. Editor can't see the files uploaded by Mr. Translator, even though the option "this job receives files from" says "Translator", so the files should be shared automatically, but they are not. I have to manually select the files to be shared and add the jobs to share them with. How do I make this an automatic task? Thank you!

Dear Marcela,

Can you maybe provide me a project number or a project process template that I can investigate?

It would be extremely helpful.

Hello, Bartosz.

Let me see if it keeps happening and I'll send you a sample, because I think they got shared automatically in the last projects. Thank you!

Regards,

Marcela

Hello Bartosz. I have a project number now. It's a Translation + Editing job, and the files that the translator uploaded in the system didn't get shared with the editor, even though this job should receive files from "Translation" (the option is marked). I had to share the translator's files manually with the editor. Should I share the project number with you here?

Dear Marcela,

I should be able to find it in your XTRF!

Give me few moments and hopefully I will have an answer and solution for you! (Of course I will blur out any sensitive data :))

Dear Marcela,

I think I have found the project, was it with a deadline till 2018-07-27 23:00 ?

If it is this project, the translator added two files, bilingual and cat package. Bilingual was already shared so you had to share CAT package with the second vendor.

Is this correct?

Yes, that's it! What was the problem?
